25 years ago: Fort Lewis College is at the leading edge nationwide in developing ways to measure what, and how well, students are learning in college. Through a program called the Value-Added Study, directors are spearheading methods that will prove students at FLC are learning what teachers are teaching, and more importantly, show faulty members where curriculum improvement is needed. Though all institutions in Colorado will have to develop some kind of accountability program by 1990, according to state statute, Fort Lewis is way ahead of the game.
