100 years ago: Not guilty, such was the verdict rendered in the case of the people of Colorado vs. Cox, Graves and Carmen after the jury was out a little over two hours. ... Every member of the audience was breathless. A few minutes after their release Cox, Carmen and Graves were rearrested on the charge of attempting to murder Dave McCullon, who was with Sam Truby the day he was shot. Just when their second case will be heard is uncertain.

25 years ago: Directors of La Plata Community Hospital agreed to purchase the other half interest in the Addictions Recovery Unit, in a move that will put the ARU under the public hospitals control. The ARU has been operated under a partnership agreement with Community Health Resources in Denver, a not-for-profit corporation under American Medical International, and Community Hospital. The ARU has a 10-bed detoxification unit and 10-bed residential program.
