With Colorado’s mountain snowpack low, Fort Collins isn’t sending its excess water to farmers this year. Eldon Ackerman, who owns a farm north of Fort Collins, has decided to let 70 percent of his land sit there, cropless. Ackerman’s family has farmed in Larimer County since 1928.
