It was another week of crowning club champions at our area courses.
Dalton Ranch Golf Club had its Junior Club Championship last week, and Cody Civiletto took the boys club title, while Haleigh Lyon captured the girls club title. Vayle Townsend won the boys 11-13 flight, while Lance Townsend won the boys 8-10 flight.
Kermitt Barrett, with a 148, is the 2009 men's club champion at Hillcrest Golf Club after its Mega-Club Championship weekend, while Patty Crigler, with a 152, was crowned women's club champion. Alden Foster, with a 158, is the men's super senior club champion.
Bob Barnhardt and Ken Kirby tied for second gross in the Championship Flight with scores of 154 in the men's club championship. Low net went to Joe Gerity with a 143, while Mark Miller was second at 145 and Chris Atcitty third at 146.
Alex Emmons was low gross winner in the First Flight with a 166, followed by David Pierce at 169 and Andrew Hoff at 170. Russ Monell was low net at 142, with Duane Mulkey second at 147 and Louis Ciaramella, William Hobson and Jerry Martinez tied for third at 148.
Second Flight low gross was a tie between Robin Boucher and Joe Gardner with scores of 176. Brian Dommer and Vince Mirabel tied for third with scores of 188. Steve Biery took low net honors with a 142, while Jerome Doane and Steve Woolverton tied for second with scores of 145. David Gore came in fourth with a 147.
In the women's club championship, Aimee Fladt followed overall champion Crigler with a second-place gross score of 165. Daphne D'Agostino was third gross at 179. Josalyn Warfield was low net winner at 142, followed by Macky Headrick at 144, Cindy Cuthbert at 145 and Eve Rupinski at 147.
In the super senior club championship, Tom Newman and Skip Vaughan tied for second gross behind Foster with scores of 164. Don Cross was low net at 131, with Larry Gaughan and Rick Lane tied for second net with scores of 140. Jim Howell rounded out the prize winners with a 144.
Hillcrest also held a Junior Invitational on Aug. 13, and the overall champion, after a sudden-death playoff, was Chris Aiken. Aiken and Civiletto tied for low gross after 18 holes with scores of 75. Third place in the Championship Flight went to Morgan Miller with a 76, while Chad McClanahan and Brian Grubbs tied for fourth with scores of 77. Jennifer McDonald captured the girls 13-18 age group with a 103. Jacob Rudosky and Mason Miller finished regulation tied at 90 in the boys 13-18 age group, with Rudosky winning in the sudden-death format. Eric Walker and Cory Gillespie tied for third with scores of 91.
Kylee Sullivan topped the boys/girls 10-12 classification with a 41, followed by Hayden Plewe at 42 and Cameron Barnhardt at 49. Garrett Mulkey and Vayle Townsend tied for fourth with scores of 51.
Chris Rudosky finished first in the boys/girls 5-9 age group with a 40, with Lance Townsend second at 48 and Brett Munday third at 49.
The Dalton Ranch Golf Club Men's Club Championship will be played Saturday and Sunday. The field is limited to 80 players. Tee-times begin at 8:30 a.m.
The 14th annual Dudley Engle Golf Tournament, hosted by the Durango Emblem Club, will be Saturday at Hillcrest. The tournament raises funds for the many charitable organizations the club contributes to every year. The entry fee is $30 per person, and you can sign up by calling the pro shop at 247-1499.
