Benefit bank account established for woman
An account has been opened at First National Bank of Durango for Linda Partridge. Partridge, a Durango resident since 1993, was diagnosed with a Meningioma brain tumor earlier this year.
Partridge works at Plaza Hair & Nail, but will be unable to work for an unknown period of time after the surgery. Any donations will be appreciated.

Volunteers are needed at Medicine Horse. Many opportunities are available including horse care (horse experience required), gardening, general maintenance and public relations.

The Early Childhood Council of La Plata County will hold the local "Expanding Quality in Infant Toddler Care" training at 8:30 a.m. Sept. 23. The registration deadline is Sept. 16.
This is a 48-hour training in early-childhood practices with a focus on infant and toddler care. Directors of early childhood programs are invited to an orientation meeting Sept. 16 to learn about onsite coaching, college credit and financial support for staff to participate.

An "End of Summer Music Fest" will be held from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at Rotary Park, 1700 Main Ave. All proceeds will benefit children with developmental disabilities.
Admission will be $5, which will make participants eligible to win an electric guitar, handmade beaded bag, signed copy of The Hemingway Book Club of Kosovo and gift certificates to Inferno Snowboards, DSP Pizza, Zuberfizz, Zuke's and more.

The Ignacio Community Library will accept donated gently used or new children's books or adult books through Sept. 6 at 470 Goddard Ave. in Ignacio.
The books will be used for a kids' book giveaway during Ignacio Bike Week's Kids' Rally, a book exchange at the library, and Family Literacy Programs at the library and Ignacio area schools.
In addition to the library, books may be dropped off at Moon's Custom Cycles, The Patio Restaurant and Ignacio Town Hall.
