The Fort Lewis College women's soccer team found the back of the net, twice in the first half and twice in the second, en route to their second consecutive shutout victory of the season.
The Skyhawks, who picked up an assist from winning goalkeeper Christine Schmelzle, blitzed Augustana College of Sioux Falls, S.D., 4-0 in a match played at Adams State College in Alamosa.
"We played an excellent game (Saturday)," head coach Damian Clarke said.
"Our passing was extremely sharp. We performed much better than Thursday (in a 1-0 win over Northern State)," Clarke said.
He said the FLC defense worked effectively as a unit, forcing action into the FLC attacking zone.
From there, Hayley Hollenga scored two goals. Erika Shisler added one, and Jamie MacArthur scored another.
Elena Benavides had two assists.
Samantha Smith had an assist.
Serena Mancha had an assist on Schisler's opening goal, which came in the third minute of play.
"Hayley Hollenga was absolutely fantastic ... in both games," Clarke said. "Elena and Hayley ... they're a handful. Our movement off the ball was awesome."
Clarke played virtually his entire roster with starters Schmelzle, Mancha, Smith, Shisler, Benavides, Hollenga, Jane Barden, Nichole Kluk, Michelle Felten and Lauren Reinhardt.
Off the bench, FLC used Roxanne Baldwin, Torrey Larson, Hilary Anderson, Samantha Scales, Paige Martinez, Kortney Hull and Ashley Kniffen.
FLC outshot Augustana 30-6, including a whopping 18-1 in the first half.
"Now, we're looking forward to next weekend," Clarke said of the 2-0-0 Skyhawks.
The FLC women's soccer team will play Wayne State of Nebraska at 1 p.m. Saturday and Eastern New Mexico at 2 p.m. Sept. 6 at Dirks Field in Durango.
