Justin Rose takes U.S. Open as Mickelson misses again
Justin Rose putted in for birdie on the 18th hole to close with 70 on Sunday and finish 1-over 281 to win the U.S. Open at Merion Golf Club. It’s the first time an Englishman has won the tournament in 43 years.
Keep chasing it, Phil. After leading the U.S. Open for the first time through 54-holes, Phil Mickelson finished Sunday’s round with 4-over 74 and a 3-over 283 – two shots behind winner Justin Rose. He’s still never won the U.S. Open, finishing runner up six times now.
