Pitchers: Stop using your head

Line drives to pitchers’ domes a problem for Major League Baseball
Tampa Bay’s Alex Cobb is the most recent pitcher to take a line drive to the head. On June 15, Eric Hosmer’s hit struck him behind the ear, and Cobb was hospitalized with a concussion. He’s been released from the hospital, but there’s no timetable for his return.
On August 5, 2011, Colorado Rockies starting pitcher Juan Nicasio was beaned by a come-backer from the Washington Nationals’ Ian Desmond. Nicasio also fractured a vertebrae when he fell.
Juan Nicasio returned to pitch for the Colorado Rockies in 2012 after sustaining head and neck injuries in 2011 when he took a line drive to the head.
