Sporting fact or doping fiction?

Tour de France’s reputation not what it was
The prevalence of doping in the late 1990s and into the 2000s, precipitated most famously by Lance Armstrong, has soured sponsors and fans of cycling heading into the 100th anniversary of the Tour de France.
And even now, at the sport’s nadir, the Tour de France’s essential charms to fans and sponsors remain the same: roads, mountains, the beauty of France and men, such as Britain’s Mark Cavendish, willing to push themselves to extremes.
