Local photos sought for exhibit at libraryLocal photographers are invited to submit their work for "The Beast in the Library: Wildlife Photography" an upcoming photography exhibit at the Durango Public Library. The exhibit will run from Sept. 13 through Oct. 24 as part of the Fort Lewis College Common Reading Experience centered on David Baron's book, The Beast in the Garden, and will be available for viewing during program room events.
Submissions will be accepted from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 12 at the library. There is a $5 entry fee per item with a limit of three entries per person.

Barrett, who graduated from Fort Lewis College with a degree in Music Education in 1997, also is the director of the Durango Barbershoppers. She previously taught middle school choir and orchestra in Farmington and Aztec, and was a member of the American Choral Directors Association and the New Mexico Educators Association.

The show is a retrospective of Pacheco's career and features mixed-media pieces, watercolors and pen and ink illustrations. There is no charge for admission, and refreshments will be served. Profits from works sold will benefit the UUFD children's programs.
