Planning Commission to meet with public
The La Plata County/city of Durango Joint Planning Commission meeting scheduled for 6 p.m. today has been canceled because of lack of quorum.
However, La Plata County Planning staff will be present to meet with members of the public who have questions about the Intergovernmental Agreement and the process.

Bayfield School District to host groundbreaking
Bayfield School District will host a groundbreaking ceremony at 6 p.m. Monday on the lawn west of the Bayfield High School gymnasium, 800 County Road 501, for the Performing Arts Center, varsity baseball field, and the auxiliary gymnasium.
Womenade event to meet Monday
Womenade, a grass-roots fundraising program that helps women with one-time grants to assist with financial emergencies, will meet at 5:30 p.m. Monday at the Rochester Hotel lobby, 726 East Second Ave.
Participants are encouraged to bring a potluck dish to share and $25 to add to the donation pool. The group then will decide which applicants will receive funding.
Applicants can apply through the Women’s Resource Center and are screened first by a volunteer council to ensure that no other community resources are available to help them.
All proceeds are used for grants; none is used for administrative costs.
Womenade also will accept donations from people who cannot attend the event. Make checks payable to “Womenade,” and send them to the Women’s Resource Center, 679 East Second Ave., Suite 6, Durango, CO 81301. No online donations are available.

Free parent-allocation seminar set for Friday
Through its Self-Help Center, the 6th Judicial District (Archuleta, La Plata and San Juan counties) is offering a free seminar from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Friday in the meeting room of the La Plata County Courthouse, 1060 East Second Ave., about the allocation of parental responsibilities, formerly known as “custody.”
The seminar is designed for unmarried parents or civil partners who need to set up formal decision-making and parenting-time guidelines.
The Self-Help Center’s office hours are 1 to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
