Local photographer to host show of bears
Local photographer Joann Wade will give a slideshow presentation featuring her photos of bears in Durango and in Glacier, Yellowstone and Denali national parks at 5:30 p.m. today at the Open Shutter Gallery, 735 Main Ave.

Animas Museum to offer family day
The Animas Museum, 3065 West Second Ave., will hold a Family Day from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday.
Participants will be able to create an old-fashioned fan and explore the museum with a “Seek & Find” adventure.

Groundbreaking set for new Manna building
Manna Soup Kitchen, 1100 Avenida del Sol, will break ground at 3:30 p.m. Thursday on a second building, adjacent to its existing facility, which will include a teaching kitchen.
This expansion will allow Manna to create additional administrative and community meeting space, and house a culinary job training program to enable clients to learn job and life skills.

Free introduction to tai chi offered
A free introduction to tai chi and qigong will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Schneider Park, near the Ninth Street Bridge.
The free session will be presented by instructor Tim Richard with Durango Tai Chi Club. Richard is a 15-year practitioner of Taijiquan, having trained intensively in China and the U.S. Participants will learn how to use tai chi and qigong to reduce stress and revive energy. Tai chi and qigong are great for arthritis, fibromyalgia, lower back pain, neck and shoulder pain
