Four of the seven seats on the Durango School District 9-R board will be on the ballot this November.Board members Paddy Lynch, Floyd Patterson and Wendy Rice all have two years remaining on their terms and will stay put this time around.
Julie Levy, projects manager for the La Plata County Regional Housing Alliance, is running for the open seat representing District D.
Another possible candidate picked up an election petition to replace Jim Callard in District D before the application deadline Aug. 28, but board clerk Kristi Rodri said it didn't look like the woman had time to complete it.
Callard was appointed to replace a sitting board member, Dave Farkas, who moved out of his district. With board members sitting for four-year terms, Levy would have only two years before she's up for re-election.
Jeff Schell is running unopposed for re-election to District F.
To represent District C, incumbent Melissa Youssef is facing a challenge from Fort Lewis College Director of Admissions Andy Burns.
Another appointee is running to keep his seat. Joe Colgan, who replaced Tammy Capdevielle after her family moved to Boulder in August, is running opposite Bill Bowlby, who also applied to replace Capdevielle this year but was not selected by the board.
