Businesses and families have painfully cut back on spending to survive the politicians' assault on our economy. Yet the Herald advocates higher taxes (editorial, Herald, Sept. 4) because "there is little fat left" in government. Please.
Has anyone at the Herald driven under the "Bridge to Nowhere"? It's illegal to drive with your eyes closed. One hundred million dollars for what? The bridge is not a fluke; it's typical of government's cavalier attitude toward our money. Wake up, fellow residents, and try opening your eyes, Herald. Politicians are robbing us of our way of life while the news media play lap dog for them.
Our children will work long and hard just to pay for the incredible irresponsibility on display every day in every way by today's career politicians.
