Imagine having a picture of your beloved dogs memorialized in a calendar for all the world to see. It may sound like a fantasy for some, but for Durangoan Linda Thompson, it has become a reality.
Thompson submitted a photo of her dogs, Annie and Oakley, to Granite Dog Gallery, run by Molly Poole of New Boston, N.H. Poole selects 13 photos to re-create with watercolors, and those paintings are what go into the calendar. Submissions are sent in from all over the United States, and from as far as Europe.
The photo is of the two dogs peering out the door to their dog house. Annie’s dog tag, a heart, hangs between the two of them, and Thompson believes that small detail is what made the photo stand out to Poole during the selection process.
The website for Granite Dog Gallery is granitedog.com. By selecting the “Shop Calendars” button, one can see all the photo selections for the 2014 calendar. Annie and Oakley’s photo is titled “Two Hearts” and will be the picture for February.
