After fighting my way through heavy traffic from the other side of town to get to the rec center to swim, changing and showering, all of which took a good half hour, I entered the pool area only to find, again, that the pool was temporarily closed since some child had an accident and the management had to rebuild the chemical levels. Meanwhile, all the children at the birthday party and all of the swimmers were prevented from using the pool for almost an hour.
Of course, accidents happen, but there is a requirement that small children wear special diapers in the pool. Parents should be responsible and considerate enough to monitor their children. Maybe fines are in order for constant violations that prevent so many from enjoying the pool and spending time needlessly getting there, getting ready to swim and waiting – and waiting – for an all-clear signal.
