The Ignacio High School football team beat an undermanned Center team 55-7 on Saturday, scoring most of the points in the first quarter and a half before playing the Bobcats’ JV squad, head coach Lupe Huerta said.
Junior Pedro Vigil had a touchdown run of 37 yards and one more than 70, Huerta said.
Senior Josh Plehinger caught a TD pass, fellow senior Oakley Hayes had a 30-yard receiving score, and senior Chance Wyatt moved from the offensive line to tailback for a score.
Sophomore Alex Peña added another touchdown, while Hayes and Vigil led the Bobcats defense with six tackles each.
Ignacio improved to 6-2, with a home game remaining at 7 p.m. Friday against Del Norte.
"They’re pretty tough," Huerta said. "Their record doesn’t show what they’ve done."
