Hydroponic method provides fresh greens for livestock
Montezuma County rancher Bob Ower spreads feed from a hydroponic fodder system he uses as a supplement for his cattle.
The cattle love the new food, tossing it around as they tear it apart to eat.
“The cows love it, and they are really healthy. It stretches limited hay supplies, and the investment will pay for itself soon,” said Montezuma County rancher Bob Ower of the feed he gets from a Fodder Solutions system, an indoor hydroponic growing greenhouse that can produce fresh barley shoots for cattle in six days.
