FLC can’t jump over Mesa in RMAC softball standings
Chelsea Rodriguez powered the Fort Lewis College softball team’s offense Sunday against Colorado Mesa with three hits and four runs batted in. She hit her 10th home run of the season in the second game of the doubleheader.
Hayley Bolyard caught both games of the Skyhawks’ doubleheader against Colorado Mesa and picked up three total hits. She also scored a run.
Chelsea Rodriguez was hit in the thigh with a pitch Sunday in game one of a doubleheader against Mesa. The umpires called her out on the play because they said she swung and missed at a third strike.
Adriana Rosthenhausler had four hits in the second game of a doubleheder against Colorado Mesa on Sunday. A Fort Lewis College rally fell short as the Skyahwks lost that game 8-5.
Tehenia Telliano pinch hit in both games of Sunday’s doubleheader against Colorado Mesa but didn’t pick up a hit in either at-bat. Fort Lewis College split the two games to remain behind the Mavericks in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference standings.
Skyhawks lose a star senior

Sunday’s doubleheader didn’t mark senior day or the last game of the season, but there were tears aplenty after the game because it did mark the final game in the career of one Skyhawk.
Fort Lewis College senior outfielder Destinee DeHererra is leaving the softball team because she will be working as a detention officer at a jail in Ignacio starting Monday.
She ranks in the top-20 all time at FLC in batting average, doubles, home runs and runs batter in.
“These four years went by so fast,” DeHerrera said. “I’m obviously very sad that it’s over, but you’ve got to move on with life. The real world is coming.”
