75 years ago: “Joe Louis is still world’s heavyweight champion. Last night he knocked out Jack Roper in Los Angeles, in the first round. Joe got careless and let the fight go over two minutes.”
50 years ago: The following appeared in the section titled Girl About Town: “The fish in the pool at the City Hall have been returned to the fish hatchery temporarily while repairs are made to the pool.”
25 years ago: “Dick and Jane’s Place in Bondad is the only site in Colorado for the state Lottery’s test marketing of the Instant Ticket Game vending machine. The Instant Game is a $1 per ticket, scratch-and-play game that runs 6-8 weeks at a time. Up to now all tickets were sold by retailers behind the counter.”
