Too bad I woke up to read the Herald’s “Talk about Town” (April 30) push for people to get out to vote for the Chapman Hill Bike Park. As a close neighbor to the proposed development, I don’t think I’m alone in voicing opposition against this dedicated use. I read Jonathan Thompson’s long-overdue op-ed piece in the April 27 Herald about Durango’s head-over-heels push for recreational development. It asked if Durango was selling its soul to recreation. I agree with his opinion, and question when is enough, enough. Between the development of the Smelter Rapid complex, the Oxbow access and now the Chapman Hill Recreation Area Bike Park, can’t we just leave open space alone for once?
