Community college to offer watercolor class
Southwest Colorado Community College will offer a watercolor class, taught by Henry Woolbert starting June 3.
Students will study principles of design, color theory, watercolor history and a range of watercolor techniques using a variety of media and processes – both in the studio and in nature. By the end of the course, students will assemble a portfolio.
The three-credit class will meet from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesdays and Thursdays from June 3 to July 24 at the west campus, 33057 U.S. Highway 160, just east of the Montezuma County Fairgrounds.

Durango Arts Center announces classes
The Durango Arts Center will host these classes:
“Passion for Fashion” will be held from 10 a.m. to noon for ages 5 to 8 and from 1 to 3 p.m. for ages 9 to 13 from June 16 to 20. The cost is $112.50 for members and $125 for nonmembers.
“Art About Me” for ages 4 to 6 will take place from 1 to 2:30 p.m. June 30 to July 2. The cost is $40 for members and $45 for nonmembers.
“Lil’ Thespians” for ages 3 to 5 will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday to Friday. Session 1 will take place from June 16 to 20; Session 2 from July 14 to 18; and Session 3 from Aug. 4 to 8. The cost is $90 for nonmembers and $80 for members.
“Imagination Station” for ages 6 to 8 will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Monday to Friday. Session 1 will take place from June 9 to 13; Session 2 from July 7 to 11; and Session 3 from Aug. 11 to 15. The cost is $125 for nonmembers and $112 for members.

The senior celebration will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Sorrel Sky Gallery, 828 Main Ave. It will be an exhibition format, and guests are encouraged to meet and greet the class of 2014. Mountain Middle to host Poetry Café
Mountain Middle School’s sixth-grade humanities class will exhibit its Poetry Café from 6 to 7:30 p.m. today at the Animas City Theatre, 128 E. College Drive.
Students will serve thoughtful and unpredictable poems from an original menu.
Riverhouse center to host ribbon cutting
The Riverhouse Children’s Center, 742 Florida Road, will host a ribbon cutting and community open house from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. May 28.
The Durango Chamber of Commerce Diplomats will be present to coordinate the ribbon cutting. The board of directors, teachers and staff members will be present to provide more information and campus tours.
Riverhouse Children’s Center is a nonprofit child-development center and has been providing care and early education services to young children in Durango since 2002.
The Riverhouse Program serves children from 6 weeks to 5 years old within five classrooms.

Title VII program reschedules picnic
The End-of-Year Title VII Family Feast has been rescheduled to noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Junction Creek Campground in the day-use area in group site 1.
Title VII Native American students and families are invited. The picnic will feature chicken, hot dogs, chips, macaroni and potato salad. Participants are asked to bring a dish to share.

Summer food service available to children
Care and Share Food Bank will sponsor the Summer Food Service Program for children ages 1 to 18.
The program will provide free lunches, breakfasts or snacks during the summer at these locations:
Breakfast will be served from 10:10 to 11 a.m. and snack service from 2:20 to 3 p.m. Monday to Friday from June 16 to Aug. 15 at the Boys and Girls Club of the Southern Ute Indian Tribe, 290 Mouache Circle in Ignacio.
Lunch will be served from 11:50 to 12:30 p.m. and snack service from 2 to 2:30 p.m. Monday to Thursday from June 2 to July 31 at the Dolores County School District, 425 N. Main St. in Dove Creek.
All sites will be closed July 4.

Park Elementary School will host its fifth-grade graduation from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. May 28 and the fifth-grade talent show from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.
