The Durango Pee Wee (ages 11-12) travel ice hockey team kicked off its season at the 30th annual Sportsmanship
Tournament recently in nonleague, B-level games. The Pee Wees rattled off three consecutive wins bookended by losses to
state powers Littleton Black.
Durango lost its Friday season opener in Eagle against the team ranked No. 2 in the Colorado Competitive Youth Hockey
The final score was 5-3, with Derek Pansze scoring a hat trick in the third period with help from teammates Kele
Steffler and Eric Walker. Trystan Hale saved 18 shots in goal, while the Durango team forced 18 of its own at the other
Durango rebounded against the Vail Eagle team in Vail with a 4-0 win the next game.

The Pee Wees played CCYHL's No. 1 team on Saturday, the Arapahoe Ice Warriors, and bounced back with a 3-0 win over the
team that bounced Durango from the state playoffs last season.
Hale had a shutout, while Tarpley, Pansze and Steffler scored goals.
Both Pansze and Steffler's goals were shorthanded, and defenseman Kyle Robinette set up the
Durango made it three wins in four games with a 3-0 victory over the Colorado Springs Tigers (with two goals from
Steffler and another from Rex Stowers), earning it a playoff berth against the undefeated Littleton Black team, which
again won - this time 4-1 - to hand Durango a second-place trophy.
Stowers scored a late third period goal that was assisted by Pansze, and Hale stopped 21 shots.
Durango next travels to Telluride on Dec. 12 for its first Rocky Mountain Youth Hockey League game.
