The Fort Lewis College men's basketball team lost a close game 70-65 to Metro State to open up Rocky Mountain Athletic
Conference play Friday night in Denver. The Skyhawks dropped to 5-1 overall.
We missed 17 free throws, that was the bottom line," FLC head coach Bob Hofman said.
The Skyhawks trailed at the half 34-32 after Metro went on a 13-2 run in its final five minutes. The men came back in
the second half to regain the lead with 10:19 left in the game on a 3-pointer by junior David Kanyinda.
We came back from about 10 points down and took a nine-point lead, but we just couldn't hold on," Hofman said.
Junior DeAndre Lansdowne led the team in scoring with 19 points. Durango High School alum Matt Morris finished the
night with 14 points and 11 rebounds.
Kyle Behrens ended his night with 12 boards to lead the team.
We went five-for-25 from the 3-point line, that didn't help either," Hofman said about his team's inability to close
out the game.
The Skyhawks play again tonight at 5 p.m. against Regis in Denver.
