The Durango Youth Soccer Association (DYSA) concluded the fall season with the Durango United U18 girls and the U17
boys traveling to Tempe, Ariz., for the 30th annual Pro's Elite Thanksgiving Tournament.
The U18 girls, coached by DYSA Director of Coaching Kate Stahlin, won four of five matches in Arizona.
The team's only loss came against a top team from Southern California.
We played some great soccer. Our ball movement was outstanding, our attack unpredictable and we were very tough
defensively," Stahlin said.
I couldn't be happier with the team's performance."
Most of the players will compete on the Durango High School girls team next spring.
The DHS girls team will host its annual fundraising spaghetti dinner Tuesday evening at Durango High School.
The DYSA U17 boys went
2-2 in the U17 Elite Bracket in Arizona.
After two losses, the team rallied for two big wins but didn't advance out of group play.
The U17 boys were coached by Benj Fredrick, a soccer alum from Fort Lewis College, and Loren Wickstrom.
