The Bayfield High School boys basketball team won 50-44 at Centauri on Friday night, improving to 5-11 overall, 1-3 in Intermountain League play.
"It was a great team win for us," Bayfield coach Chad Nachtrieb said. "We worked all week on making free throws, and we were able to do that at the end."
Centauri took a 17-13 lead into the second quarter, but the Wolverines buckled down and had a 27-23 halftime lead.
"We executed really well on offense, and our zone defense gave them fits," Nachtrieb said.
Senior Kaleb Zink led the way for Bayfield with 14 points. Senior Jesse McCoy and junior Jared Qualls added 12 each.
Bayfield hosts Monte Vista on Friday the 13th at 7 p.m.
