The Durango Chamber of Commerce has announced the three finalists for its 2009 year's best" award in eight categories.
The winners and the recipients of four other awards will be announced at its annual recognition ceremony Jan. 14.
Categories and nominees are:
Citizen of the Year: Joe Colgan, Sheri Rochford and Karen Zink.
Business of the Year: Brainstorm Internet, Coldwell Banker and Mercury Payment Systems.
Small Business of the Year: Backcountry Experience, Four Corners Broadcasting and Hood Mortuary.
Entrepreneur of the Year: Thrive Wellness (Trapper Niccum), Desert Sun Coffee (Glenn Lathrop) and Payroll
Department (Bryan Dear).
Nonprofit of the Year: San Juan Mountain Association, Sexual Assault Services Organization and the Southern Ute
Community Action Programs.
Spirit of Durango: Durango Sports Club, Irish Embassy & Pub and Sorrel Sky Gallery.
Bill Mashaw Volunteer of the Year: Bob Aber, Brad Tafoya and Bryan Peterson.
Green Business Leadership: Carver Brewing Co., Cocina Linda and Shaw Solar.
the Morley Ballantine Award.
The awards ceremony, which is open to the public, will feature multimedia presentations highlighting all the nominees.
