Here's the perfect last-minute gift for the home cook or local-food advocate on your list: the Iron Horse Chef
Darrin Parmenter of Colorado State University Extension Office and Julie Hudak of Healthy Lifestyle La Plata have
released the compilation of chefs' recipes from the 2008 and 2009 Iron Horse Chef Competitions.
The recipes, which were inspired by fresh, local food at the Durango Farmers Market, were created by Durango's top
local chefs. The book offers mouth-watering recipes, such as Romanesca Saffron Soup and Herb Crusted Foxfire Lamb
Loin Chops with Wild Chantrelle & Sweet Corn Sauce and Farmers Market Spicy Slaw.
The cookbook costs $10 and is available at the CSU Extension Office at the La Plata County Fairgrounds.
