The fourth-place team in Class 2A boys basketball last season hung on, however, to defeat Ouray 47-40 in a San Juan
Basin League road game Saturday in Ouray.
The IHS girls (1-2) won their first game of the season with a 45-33 win at Ouray on Saturday.
Kenneth Wilson, a Silverton resident on the Ouray High School boys basketball team, led the Trojans with 12 points,while the 6-foot-5 Chris Blansett had nine points.
They're whole team was tough," Ignacio coach Chris Valdez said. They had six or seven kids that scored. They were
physical, and they rebounded like they meant it.
They really wanted to make a game of it, and they did."
Alex Herrera led the Bobcats with 18 points, 15 rebounds and seven blocked shots. The 6-8 Fort Lewis College recruit is
averaging 13.7 rebounds per game.
Pedro Vigil, Ryan Brooks and Trae Seibel scored eight points each as Ignacio improved to 4-2 overall and 3-0 in the
