Three Ignacio Bobcats claimed individual titles Saturday at the John Mall Invitational wrestling tournament in
Sophomore Alex Peña won at 119 pounds as the defending state champion extended his unbeaten streak this season.
Casey Haga, a junior, won the title at 135 pounds.
Senior Chance Wyatt added an Ignacio title at 215 pounds.
Their finishes, along with a handful of second, fourth and fifth places, helped the Bobcats finish fourth as a team
with 151.5 points.
Holy Family won the tournament with 190 points. Trinidad was second with 184.5. Peyton was third with 165.
We wrestled OK, but we keep sabotaging ourselves," Ignacio head coach Bob Overturf said.
My wrestlers need to start coming to practice to improve rather than coming (to practice) just to maintain," Overturf
said. Until we do that, we'll keep sabotaging ourselves."
