Sen. Michael Bennet will be in Durango this morning to hold a roundtable discussion with small-business owners,educators and community leaders about how best to create new jobs for Coloradans and keep the economy on the road to
The discussion will be held at 10 a.m. in the Durango School District 9-R board room, 201 E. 12th St.
The Democratic senator appeared Saturday in Grand Junction, where he said the health-care-reform bill that passed the
Senate last week is better than the status quo."
Bennet told a group of workers at St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction the Senate version is not perfect. But he
insisted it is better than doing nothing.
Mesa County has been hailed as a national leader in keeping health costs down, and Bennet was in Grand Junction to talk
about an amendment he added to the bill. The amendment aims to reduce the chance patients have to return to the
hospital after being released.
