After a satisfying meal at Applebees, a Bayfield woman gave birth Saturday to the first baby of 2010 at Mercy Regional
Maximo Christopher Aragon, son of Patricia and Shane Aragon, was born at 7:35 p.m., weighing 7 pounds 9 ounces and
measuring 20½ inches.
Maximo has a sister, Jayci, 9, and a brother, Dylan, 6.
This is the first time I've watched one being born," said a beaming Shane Aragon on Sunday in his wife's hospital
room. We were surprised we were the first kid of 2010."
We're ready to go home and relax," Patricia Aragon said.
Doctors gave the Aragons two due dates - Dec. 29 and Jan. 7. Dr. Pat Kearney delivered the healthy baby boy.
As is tradition at Mercy for its first delivery of the year, the hospital gave the Aragons a gift basket filled with
clothing, toys and essentials for newborns.
For the third year in a row, more than 1,000 babies were delivered at Mercy Regional Medical Center; 1,014 babies were
delivered in 2009.
