To the rescue

Condy Gurule, a supervisor with the city of Durango Public Works Department, cuts a section of a broken main water line Friday afternoon near the Durango Skate Park on Roosa Avenue. Gurule said the 12-inch cast-iron pipe, which provides water to the west side of town, is one of about six that have been repaired in the city in the last month. He said that number of repairs is typical for this time of year. “They are actually in pretty good shape, but in time, you’re going to start replacing pipe.”
