City Manager Ron LeBlanc said the city will begin more stringent enforcement of the city's parking ordinances in the
Central Business District this week, because of heavy snowfall and upcoming Snowdown events.
There's a high likelihood you'll get towed," he said.
The Durango Code of Ordinances forbids parking on Main Avenue between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m.
City crews have been pushing snow to the middle of the street and trucking it away in the days after a series of storms
left more than 35 inches in downtown this month. Twelve city trucks carried away more than 300 loads from the district
Saturday and more than 250 loads early Monday morning.
Crews with the Colorado Department of Transportation have been trucking snow to its storage area near the junction of
U.S. Highway 550 and U.S. Highway 160, across from the DoubleTree Hotel. The city has been leaving snow piled on city
streets at Cundiff Park, behind the Durango Mall by the BMX track.
Main Avenue is maintained by the city. Camino del Rio is a CDOT-maintained highway.
