In his op-ed piece regarding river access (Opinion, Herald, Feb. 21), Mark Squillace says, It is long past time for
the Colorado Legislature to give all Colorado residents the rights that are guaranteed under our Constitution and
enjoyed by the residents of virtually every other state in this country. As for me, I'm tired of being a criminal; we
need to provide stream access for everybody."
I accept the fact that the residents of Colorado own the water that flows through the river bed that I own, and I also
accept the fact that rafters and private and commercial outfits have a right to float through my property.
However, I can't find anywhere in the Colorado or the United States Constitution that gives Mark and his ilk the right
to trespass on my property. I'm tired of picking up trash left by rafters and kayakers and burying their human
