Rocket testing in Durango?

“Our test system here basically simulates the vacuum of space while we’re firing the engines,” said Daudi Barnes, president and chief engineer at Advanced Mobile Propulsion Test.
Daudi Barnes, president and chief engineer of Advanced Mobile Propulsion Test, said the company’s function is to test small rocket engines for the likes of Raytheon, Boeing, Lockheed Martin and NASA for space vehicles and defense systems. Justin Kautter, left, and Brad Cook, center, talk to propulsion engineer Mesa Hollinbeck on Friday near the Durango-La Plata County Airport.
This test cell, where the rocket engines are placed, simulates the vacuum of space while measuring things such as thrust, acceleration, temperature and pressure.
