A Durango woman who fired a single gunshot inside Denny's Restaurant last year pleaded guilty Tuesday to felony menacing and violation of a protection order.Rachel Paige Miller, 24, faces anything from probation to as many as two years in prison after signing a plea agreement with the District Attorney's Office.
The incident occurred about 4:40 p.m. March 10, 2008, at Denny's, 666 Camino del Rio.
Miller was dining alone when she stood up and fired a single shot into the ceiling above the drink station at the center of the restaurant. Witnesses told police Miller was acting strangely and seemed agitated.
Miller then pointed the .38 caliber handgun in the general direction of other patrons, saying, "Everybody get the (expletive) out!" according to a police report.
She remained in the restaurant for about 35 minutes until a police negotiator convinced her to lay down the weapon and walk outside.
No one was injured in the incident.
Myron Lucero, an employee at the time, said Miller was a regular customer at Denny's and visited about twice a month for at least two years.
Lucero said he never feared for his safety; rather he feared Miller might harm herself.
Sentencing is set for 1:30 p.m. April 6 in District Court in La Plata County.
