Rain falls on a puddle in front of the Durango BMX Track on Friday afternoon causing the cancellation of the day’s event, this week’s regular Ribbon Racing. Weather permitting, Durango BMX will host its “Race for Life” on Sunday at its home track, a national BMX fundraiser to fight leukemia. Sign-ups will take place from 9 to 10 a.m. Sunday, and racing for all ages and abilities will follow. There will be a $20 donation for the cause to race in Sunday’s event. Tracy Henry, a first-year secretary for Durango BMX, said so far local 7-year-old cyclist Liam “Monkey” DuBois is this year’s leading fundraiser for the event, having raised $300 on his own. For more information on the Race for Life, call Henry at 903-9192.
