The big backup

A traffic accident involving a school bus backs up traffic for almost two miles in the eastbound lane of U.S. Highway 160 on Friday afternoon west of Gem Village. A 1997 Ford driven by Damon Darnell collided with the bus shortly before 4 p.m., said Cpl. Eric Wynn, public information officer with Colorado State Patrol. No children were injured, but the bus driver was transported to Mercy Regional Medical Center with injuries that were not life threatening. Wynn did not know which school district’s bus was involved.
