About: Katie Burford started with the Herald as a reporter in 2007 and became city editor in July 2010. She holds a master's degree in journalism from the University of Kansas. She worked at The (McAllen) Monitor in Texas' Rio Grande Valley before moving to New Mexico to work at the Albuquerque Journal. In 2004, she was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to teaching journalism in Chile, where she also reported for Reuters news agency.
