About: Jon Mentzer joined The Durango Herald Sports Desk in 2015. He spent the past year in Ketchum, Idaho (near Sun Valley) working as the Sports Editor for the Wood River Journal and as a freelance writer and photographer. Jon is an avid skier, camper and overall outdoorsman. In his off time, he enjoys photography, creative writing, fly-fishing and a little bit of mountain biking.
