Before starting a career in journalism, he was a PGA Professional in Miami Beach, Florida, and Naperville, Illinois. Joe and his wife are from Chicago. They have a daughter, a Labrador retriever named Phoebe and a cat appropriately named Shredder. Joe likes live music, playing golf and exploring the great state of Colorado.
