In the fall of 2015, Natives Americans at Brown (NAB) petitioned Brown University to change the name of Fall Weekend, previously Columbus Day (2009) to Indigenous Peoples' Day in celebration of Native peoples and to recognize the displaced Native tribes from the founding of the University. In response to racist op-ed articles in the Brown Daily herald, campus-wide support helped pass the name change in 2016.
This commemorates the activism and student organizing that took place the fall of 2015.
