What to watch: Colorado Division I college football week nine

Colorado looks to keep good momentum going against Cincinnati

It’s a great time to be a football fan this week. If someone’s a football junkie, they can find either professional or college football games on every day of the week. There were two college football games on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

College football purists in Colorado who want to watch Colorado teams on Saturday will get their wish. Colorado State is coming off a win against Air Force and is at the top of the Mountain West Conference. Colorado dominated Arizona last week and surpassed its win total from last year.

Here’s a look at what matchups Colorado Division I college football teams have this weekend:

Cincinnati Bearcats at Colorado Buffaloes on Saturday at 8:15 p.m. MST

Where: Folsom Field, Boulder

How to Watch: ESPN

Records: Colorado is 5-2 overall and 3-1 in the Big 12 Conference after its 34-7 win at Arizona last Saturday. Cincinnati is 5-2 overall and 3-1 in the Big 12 Conference after its 24-14 win over Arizona State last Saturday.

Line: Colorado is a 6.5-point favorite

Notes: Both teams are tied for second in the Big 12 with Kansas State and Texas Tech. Colorado and Cincinnati both beat UCF on the road. Colorado won 48-21 and Cincinnati won 19-13. Both teams are led by second-year coaches who were under .500 in their first year.

Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders had 250 yards passing, two touchdowns and two interceptions against Arizona. Sanders also ran in a touchdown. With star cornerback/wide receiver Travis Hunter limited last week with a sore shoulder, Colorado wide receiver LaJohntay Wester led the team with eight receptions for 127 yards.

Cincinnati had 191 yards rushing and three touchdowns against Arizona State. Quarterback Brendan Sorsby had 200 yards passing, an interception and two rushing touchdowns.

New Mexico Lobos at Colorado State Rams on Saturday at 3 p.m. MST

Where: Canvas Stadium, Fort Collins

How to Watch: Altitude Sports/Mountain West Network

Records: Colorado State is 4-3 overall and 2-0 in the Mountain West after a 21-13 win at Air Force last Saturday. New Mexico is 3-4 overall and 2-1 in the Mountain West after a 50-45 win at Utah State last Saturday.

Line: Colorado State is a 5.5-point favorite

Notes: Colorado State is tied for first in the Mountain West with Boise State and UNLV. Both teams have played Air Force. New Mexico won its game against Air Force 52-37.

New Mexico had a well-balanced offense against Utah State. Quarterback Devon Dampier had 272 yards passing, two touchdowns and three interceptions. On the ground, New Mexico had 280 yards and five touchdowns as a team. Dampier rushed for 105 yards and two touchdowns. Running back Eli Sanders had 75 yards rushing and two touchdowns.

Colorado State is missing its best receiver Tory Holton who’s out for the year with an injury. Holt left the Rams’ game against San José State on Oct. 12. Quarterback Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi passed for 178 yards and a touchdown. Colorado State running back Avery Morrow had 132 yards against Air Force.

Montana Grizzlies at Northern Colorado Bears on Saturday at 1 p.m. MST

Where: Nottingham Field, Greeley

How to Watch: ESPN+

Records: Montana is 5-2 overall and 2-1 in the Big Sky Conference after its 31-20 win at home against Northern Arizona last Saturday. Northern Colorado is 1-6 overall and 1-2 in the Big Sky after its 21-17 win at Weber State on Oct. 12.

Line: No line

Notes: Northern Colorado snapped its 18-game losing streak with its win at Weber State. The Wildcats were ranked 21st in FCS Division I before the loss.

Montana is No. 9 in FCS Division I after its win against Northern Arizona. Grizzlies quarterback Logan Fife threw for 199 yards and a touchdown in the win. He also had three rushing touchdowns.

Northern Colorado scored 14 consecutive points to win against Weber State. The Bears had 203 yards rushing and three touchdowns on the ground.

Montana has an 11-1 record against Northern Colorado all-time. The Bears lost to the Grizzlies 40-0 last year.
