Where do I go to find the "Menu"?

The menu is now seen by clicking the "hamburger" icon in the black bar at the top left of each page. Additionally, when you first view the home page on a desktop computer, the most popular content is located in a visible menu in the same black bar at the top of the page.

Where is "Local News"?

Local news articles can be viewed from a number of different locations on the website. First, as you scroll down past the featured story on the headlines section on the homepage, you’ll see a column for local news. Second, If you navigate to the “News” page, Local/Regional News is the first column on that page. Finally, there is an entire page dedicated to only Local and Regional news that can be accessed via the News page or the menu.

Where is "Obituaries"?

The Obituaries link can be found at the top of the home page or by accessing the main menu and clicking on the obituaries link.

How do I see my weekly weather forecast?

If you would like to see the weather, just click on the current weather icon and temperature at the top of the page in the black bar. Additionally, you can access the forecast on the home page from under the large The Durango Herald logo at the top of the page. If you would like to dive into the local weather a bit more, feel free to click on the “Full Forecast” button at the bottom of the weather pop-up to be directed to our weather provider, darksky.net.

Where do I go to just look at photos and videos

There is a section about half of the way down the home page that will show you the latest video and gallery content. Additionally, the video and gallery content pages are accessible from the menu as well as the most popular menu items that appear at the top of the home page.

Can I buy a photo from the website?

Yes! If a photograph is available for purchase, a shopping cart symbol ( ) will appear beneath the photo. Clicking the icon will transfer you to a service that will allow you to purchase that photo in a number of different sizes.

Can I add an event to the local community calendar on the The Durango Herald website?

Yes! Either find the Community Calendar widget that appears in the main content of the home page, news page, or opinion page and in the right hand sidebar of most other pages. Then click the “Add Event” button at the bottom of the widget. Additionally, you can navigate to the “Calendar” from our menu options and then click on the bright blue “Add Event” button on that page.

How do I submit a letter to the editor?

The form to send a letter to the editor is located on the Opinion page (this page can be accessed from the main menu). Additionally, you can navigate to this form by clicking on the link at the very bottom (the footer) of website.

Can I sign up for breaking news email alerts?

Yes! Scroll to the footer on any page to find the "Subscribe" section. Select the email list(s) you would like to be added to, enter your email address in the form and click "Sign Up". That’s it!

Does The Durango Herald have an eMail Newsletter?

My paper didn’t arrive this morning. What do I do to report this issue?

We’ve made it really easy to report issues with your delivery. When you are on The Durango Herald website, scroll all the way down to the footer of any page and locate the link titled “Suspend/Report Missing Newspaper”. Click on this link and completely fill out the form on the page you are taken to.

I’m leaving town for a while, can I set up to suspend my paper delivery on The Durango Herald website?

Yes! It’s really easy! When you are on The Durango Herald website, scroll all the way down to the footer of any page and locate the link titled “Suspend/Report Missing Newspaper”. Click on this link and completely fill out the form on the page you are taken to.

Will my bookmarked pages stay the same?

The web address of a lot of the content on The Durango Herald website has changed with this redesign. However, we have made a valiant effort to redirect any old pages to the new ones with the same content. What does this mean? It means that if you have bookmarked a page from the old site and you click on that bookmark, it should take you to the same page on the new website.

What is Wallit?

Wallit is an account based software that allows you to purchase articles and subscriptions at a variety of websites. The money you add to your Wallit travels with you wherever you are logged in allowing for a single click to purchase.

Where do I go to subscribe?

You can subscribe a few different ways: on the website at www.DurangoHerald.com/subscribe ; by calling Reader Services at 970-375-4530; or by emailing Reader Services at circservice@bcimedia.com

As a subscriber, how do I log in?

You can log in using the bar at the bottom of the screen. Just click on the “Log In” link and enter your The Durango Herald Wallit credentials, or log in with Facebook or Google Plus. If you don’t have a The Durango Herald Wallit account yet, simply follow the instructions to create an account.

How do I unlock content with my current subscription?

If you are a current subscriber please go to the main menu and click the subscription link or click the ‘Get The Herald” button in the footer. When you land on this page you will see a link for current subscribers that will need to verify your subscription against our database. Just click the “I have an existing print subscription” link on the paywall or at the bottom of any page and follow the simple instructions to get access.

What will change when I log in as a current subscriber?

If you’ve successfully set up your Wallit account and linked your subscription to it, that’s it! You’ll have access. Don’t have an account yet? Simply follow the link to create a Wallit account or log in with Facebook or Google Plus. Once your account is set up, follow the instructions to link your subscription. You only need to link your account once--after that, just make sure you’re logged in while visiting the site.

Why am I being asked to pay to read articles?

We cannot sustain the newsroom with advertising revenue alone. We are asking that you purchase articles so that we may continue producing news and information that is valuable. We won’t be charging for hosted world and national news content.

What is the “Wallit” bar at the bottom of the page?

The Wallit bar at the bottom of the page is your way to purchase content. The profile icon is your where you log in, should you have a Wallit account already, and the Wallit logo will bring you to the Wallit site where you can create your account. Don’t have an account or not logged in? You can reference this bar to see how many free articles you have remaining.

How do I find pricing for the different subscriptions you offer?

Follow the “Subscribe” link in the navigation menu or from the bottom of any page on the website to view our subscription prices, or go straight to www.DurangoHerald.com/subscribe.

What content do I have to pay for?

Every month, you can view up to 5 free articles on The Durango Herald website. Once you exceed 5 articles, you will be prompted to purchase either a subscription or pay for a single article. Our hosted national and world news content will always be free so you can get all your news in one place.

What is a micropayment?

A micropayment is a commitment-free way to purchase individual articles. It is an alternative method of payment that asks you to pay individually for the stories you want to read instead of committing to monthly or yearly digital subscriptions.

Is it safe to enter my credit card? Is Wallit secure?

Will my subscription renew automatically?

All subscriptions purchased through the website will renew automatically. To cancel automatic renewal, simply contact Wallit at support@wallit.io or The Durango Herald at circservice@bcimedia.com and we’ll take care of it for you. Will I get marketing calls or correspondence from The Herald or Wallit?

The Durango Herald and Wallit will occasionally send you emails regarding deals, updates, and alerts. You will always have the option to unsubscribe from these emails.

What types of payment do you accept?

For purchases through the website, you’ll be able to use any major credit card. We also accept checks and cash for payment on mailed invoices.

Can I transfer a digital subscription to someone else?

No.

Will I be able to save articles once I've read them or will I have to pay each time I read them?

Once you pay to read an article, you are able to return to that piece of content and read it as many time as you’d like.

If I send someone an article to read, does my account get charged?

No, but if the person you sent the article to has reached their limit of 5 free articles per month, they will be asked to pay to read the article.

I bought something from The Durango Herald, why did I get an email from Wallit?

Wallit is our payment processor. They are an account based software, so you are also able to use your Wallit account at other websites that partner with Wallit.

No, there is no fee to cancel a subscription.

How do I get a refund for an article/subscription?

For article/subscription refunds there are three easy steps:

  • Contact Wallit at support@wallit.io
  • Include the name, email address, and article/subscription of the refund requestor
  • Wallit will initiate the refund which triggers an automated email back to the refund requestor (please be advised that we are only able to refund $2 or more).
