One thing Durangoans pride themselves on is their commitment to supporting local businesses, causes and the arts. And what better time to walk the walk than during the holiday season?
Below is a calendar of upcoming bazaars and opportunities to have an audience with Santa, some happening as soon as Saturday. And while not an exhaustive list, here’s a good start to help you with your holiday shopping.
50th Annual Christmas Bazaar, 8 a.m.-2 p.m., Summit Church Durango, 2917 Aspen Drive. Local vendors, handmade crafts and unique items, baked goods.
Harvest Market, 9 a.m.-1 p.m., TBK Bank, 259 W. Ninth St. Many regular season vendors will be there, plus there will be new vendors for this special market. Squash, onions, goat cheese, microgreens, eggs, meats and special seasonal products will be available, along with local artisans’ handcrafted items.
Sacred Heart Christmas Craft Bazaar, 9 a.m.-3 p.m., 254 East Fifth Ave.
27th Annual Artisan Holiday Gift Show & Sale, 9 a.m.- 4 p.m., Strater Hotel Oak Room, 699 Main Ave. Eclectic blend of handcrafted work by local artisans. Jewelry, knitwear, glass art, home décor.
Free Truffle Day at Animas Chocolate Co., 11 a.m.-7 p.m., Animas Chocolate Co., 920 Main Ave.
Pet Photos with Santa, 2-4 p.m., Creature Comforts, 305 South Camino del Rio, Ste. O. Bring your pets to meet and take a photo with Santa. Suggested $20 donation, benefiting La Plata County Humane Society.
Singing with Santa, 5:30-7:30 p.m., Buckley Park, 1250 Main Ave. Free hot chocolate and cookies, lighting of the community Christmas tree and Santa. Details: www.singingwithsanta.org.
Noel Night, 10 a.m.-10 p.m., downtown Durango. A community celebration hosted by Local First kicking off holiday shopping and promoting living local. Details: www.local-first.org/noelnight.

Holiday on the Hill, 7 p.m., Community Concert Hall at Fort Lewis College, 1000 Rim Drive. $10 adult, K-12 and FLC students free. Meet Santa at FLC while the entire Performing Arts Department performs holiday music.
St. Columba Christmas Craft Bazaar, 8 a.m.-3 p.m., St. Columba Gym, 1801 East Third Ave.
The ArtRoom Collective Holiday Bazaar, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., 1309 East Third Ave. Local art and special handmade gift sale. Enter a raffle for a free gift basket. Details: Email theartroomcollective@gmail.com.
Holiday Market Pop-Up, noon-4 p.m., Ska Brewing, 225 Girard St. Shop local, support your neighbors and get unique gifts for the holidays. All while sipping on a fresh, handcrafted beer right from the source.
Third annual Round Dance & Native American Arts Market, noon-11 p.m., Durango High School gym and cafeteria, 2390 Main Ave. All welcome. Market will feature a variety of Indigenous arts and crafts, including original artworks, pottery, jewelry, beadwork, fashion apparel and more. More than 45 vendors participating this year. The market also provides an opportunity to support Title 6 student vendors, who will be showcasing their products and fostering Indigenous youth entrepreneurship in the community. In addition to the Arts Market, the Round Dance will be held from 5:30-11 p.m., bringing together members of the La Plata County community to dance, socialize and build connections. Round Dances are a long-standing tradition among many Native American tribes, often taking place during the winter months to foster unity, celebrate cultural heritage and strengthen community bonds. Everyone is encouraged to join the dance circle, regardless of background, to celebrate the season and forge new friendships.

The Bizarre Bazaar, 5-9 p.m. Dec. 13; 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Dec. 14; 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Dec. 15; Studio & Gallery, 1027 Main Ave. Studio & Gallery hosts its annual Bizarre Bazaar, which is a cross between a holiday bazaar and a Turkish bazaar. Space is filled with 16 local artists who are selling their creations.
