Dry conditions have sparked a fire warning for Durango from the National Weather Service in Grand Junction.
The alert remains in effect until 9 p.m. The wind is south at 15 to 25 mph with guts up to 40 mph and humidity is between 5 percent to 10 percent.
The weather service said the combination of gusty winds, low humidity and dry fuels could cause a fire to spread rapidly. Burning is not recommended.
A fire weather watch remains in effect Wednesday morning through Wednesday evening. A watch means it forecasts critical fire weather conditions.
