An Arizona man was arrested Tuesday in connection with the disappearance and death of a Farmington woman, whose body was found Feb. 21 in a remote location north of Flagstaff.
Mark Gooch was arrested about 9:30 a.m. at the Luke Air Force Base in Glendale, Arizona, for the homicide of Sasha Krause, according to a news release issued Tuesday by the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office.
Detectives with the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office learned that during the time Krause went missing, Gooch had traveled from Luke Air Force Base, where he lives, to Farmington. Further investigation placed Gooch near Sunset Crater in Coconino County, where Krause’s body was located, according to the news release.

Her disappearance was considered suspicious from the start, according to the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office. Detectives found her vehicle parked at the church, and objects she would have taken with her under normal circumstances had she left willingly were found in her house, according previous news releases.
Krause’s disappearance led to a countywide search and drew people via social media from around the state and country. A funeral was held for Krause in her Texas hometown in late February, and an additional memorial service was held in Farmington on March 6.
In addition to the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office, other agencies that assisted included the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office, the Department of Public Safety Crime Lab, Glendale Police Department, Office of Special Investigation Detachment 421, U.S. Air Force and the FBI.
