DENVER – Colorado is testing a texting program that will allow voters to fix any issues with their ballots before the November election.
The program is being rolled out statewide by Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold’s office, The Denver Post reported Wednesday. Voters can fix issues with their ballot by texting “Colorado2Vote” and entering their voter ID and following instructions.
Three Colorado counties have used the program, called ““TXT2cure,” in the past and 16 tried it out for the first time in June, said Steve Hurlbert, spokesperson for Griswold.
The democratic Secretary of State told the Post she expects the program to be used by younger voters who use their phones regularly.
Griswold has defended Colorado’s mail voting systems against baseless attacks by President Donald Trump who has claimed mail-in voting is ripe for fraud. Her office also instituted a statewide vote tracking system for the 2020 election which allows voters to track their ballots throughout the election process.
