La Plata County residents,
I am thrilled to invite you to join us for our upcoming “On the Road” tour. These gatherings are a vital opportunity for us to connect directly with you, the residents of our county, and hear your questions, concerns and ideas firsthand.
Our recent event in Marvel saw an incredible turnout, and the engagement and feedback we received were invaluable. It reaffirmed our belief in the importance of these face-to-face interactions. Now, we are eagerly looking forward to meeting with you at our next stops:
• July 17, 6:00 to 7:30 pm at the Animas Valley Grange
• August 14, 6:00 to 7:30 pm at the Vallecito Lake Event Center
August 28, 6:00 to 7:30 pm at the Ignacio Public Library
These events are designed to be open forums, where you can discuss any issues that matter to you directly with your county representatives. Alongside myself and fellow commissioners, you will have the opportunity to engage with the sheriff, Road and Bridge division, county manager and the community development director. This diverse group ensures that we can address a wide range of topics that affect our community.
In today’s digital age, it is easy to fall prey to misinformation and rumors online. That is why these face-to-face meetings are more crucial than ever. We want to ensure that you hear directly from us, your elected representatives, about the work we are doing, the challenges we face and the plans we have for the future of our county.
Your input at these events helps shape our decisions and policies. Whether you have questions about local infrastructure, concerns about community safety, ideas for economic development or any other issue, we are here to listen. Your voice matters in shaping the direction of our county, and these events provide the platform for meaningful dialogue.
Additionally, attending these events is a great way to meet your neighbors, fellow residents who share a common interest in the well-being of our community. Building connections and fostering understanding among ourselves strengthens our county as a whole.
So please, mark your calendars and join us “On the Road.” Together, let’s ensure that your concerns are heard, your questions are answered and your ideas are considered. Your participation is invaluable in making our county an even better place to live, work and thrive.
Thank you, for your continued support and engagement in our community. We look forward to seeing you at one of our upcoming events!
Sincerely,
Matt Salka La Plata County commissioner, chair
